"Come on people now smile on your brother everybody get together, try TO love one another right now
When I was an alien
Cultures weren't opinions
Gotta find a way ,find a way, when I'm there
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait
Never met a wise man
If so it's a woman
Gotta find a way , find a way, when I'm there
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait
Just because you're paranoid
Don’t mean they're not after you
Gotta find a way ,find a way, when I'm there
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait"

GUN FOR HIRE
DO YOU WANT TO WIN???
~
: ) {I am currently looking for work} : )
MY EMPLOYMENT MANIFESTO
A PLAN TO WIN
(Cf http://www.careerealism.com/6-leadership-traits-you-the-employee-need-to-develop-on-the-job/)
I am ready to work harder and smarter than ever before.
Together WE can achieve anything we put our minds to, and more perhaps than we realise today.
My condition in any employment is no "firewalls" so that I have a clear shot at your business's targets.
I can engage with ALL stakeholders. I will therefore only court business partners who enable me to liaise with each stakeholder, as appropriate.
I value collaboration with high-performance teams. Here, candour and honesty are paramount.
Artificial restrictions are tiresome to me, and ought to weary you. In eliminating those restrictions on your business's mission, I am willing to LEARN ANYTHING NECESSARY to success.
YOUTH IS AN ADVANTAGE. Employers that cannot embrace youthful ardour, I conceive, are trending toward elimination from the global marketplace. I LOVE YOUTHFUL BRANDS.
I place certain values above the market without compromise. INTEGRITY and AUTHENTICITY are foremost among these.
Incidentally, integrity and authentic leadership are the essence of lasting business success.
When I address recruiters, I will not play games outside the realm of decorum. I support the principles of MUTUALITY and ACTION. I seek to partner with colleagues and potential employers/business partners in a climate of mutual respect and goodwill.
I want to be more AGILE, and am desirous of partnering with agile employers.
I MEAN WHAT I SAY, AND ADMIRE THOSE WHO SPEAK THEIR MIND ALSO.

UNIVERSTIES CATCH THE VENTURE SPIRIT: KEN LANGONE, SUCCESS AND PHILANTHROPY
Lest readers get another impression, I do not discount the value of University education to business and social endeavour. Ken Langone, investment banker and venture investor provides a great example of negotiating a hard-scrabble road to success and social contribution through university. Reading his biography, one learns that Ken Langone achieved notoriety through integrity and perserverance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Langone
Most importantly, Langone has given back...
Rather than engage in pure financial speculation, Langone continues to contribute funds to the advancement of medical research, children's welfare and business education. He invested in staple American hardware brands such as Handy Dan and Home Depot. Ken Langone thus exemplifies the entrepreunerial spirit as a force for good in higher learning and endeavour.
As my school Brighton Grammar's motto urges, 'Meliora Sequamur'. KEEP ON STRIVING FOR BETTER THINGS : )

CONTINUOUS REVOLUTION - THE POST POST-INDUSTRIAL ERA
"He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows except him who receives it.
"His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself".
'Eye on the TV
'cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavour
It happens to be like;
Killed by the husband
Drowned by the ocean
Shot by his own son
She used the poison in his tea
And kissed him goodbye
That's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies
Don't look at me like
I am a monster
Frown out your one face
But with the other
Stare like a junkie
Into the TV
Stare like a zombie
While the mother
Holds her child
Watches him die
Hands to the sky crying
Why, oh why?
'cause I need to watch things die
From a distance
Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie
Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
Neither the brave nor bold
The writers of stories sold
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
I need to watch things die
From a good safe distance
Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same so
Why can't we just admit it?
Blood like rain come down
Drawn on grave and ground
Part vampire
Part warrior
Carnivore and voyeur
Stare at the transmittal
Sing to the death rattle
La, la, la, la, la, la, la-lie
Credulous at best, your desire to believe in angels in the hearts of men.
Pull your head on out your hippy haze and give a listen.
Shouldn't have to say it all again.
The universe is hostile. so Impersonal. devour to survive.
So it is. So it's always been.
We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire
Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I'
ADDENDUM TO LAST POST
My father has a Phd and MBA. My mother a Masters. I did not finish Uni. I suffered from a long-term illness (alas, such is life).
Let me confess I admire educated people, including my parents. But entrepreneurship is surely a valid skill. If we cling dogmatically to degreeship, the following list of luminaries would be excluded from the workplace except for low-end jobs -
Thomas Edison
Sir Edward Elgar
Albert Einstein
Bill Gates
Steve Jobs
Michael Dell
Ralph Norris, CEO of Commonwealth Bank
Sir Winston Churchill
Paul Keating
Sir Richard Branson
Mark Zuckerberg ...
I can't think of more on the spot. Surely, this proves how pathetically daft that proposition is.. Again, what do you think???

UNIVERSITIES: OVERPRICED AND OVERRATED? PLAYING DEVIL'S ADVOCATE..
I am going to be wickedly sharp in this post. I do believe our current "educational" structure is GROSSLY overrated and underperforming in terms of global economic activity. I do not have figures here, but refer you to a debate on the subject held by Adelaide University in conjunction with the St James Ethics Centre http://www.abc.net.au/tv/bigideas/stories/2012/08/20/3569339.htm
With the huge influx to higher education, we were bequeathed hugh debts, academic hierarchies, dysfunctional departments and quixotic course content. I applaud the return to liberal degree programmes. [Sad to admit, I have met law lecturers who would "critique" Kant from a post-modern perspective without having read Kant in the first place! : ( ] And on the theme of postmodernism, well, the less said about po-mo (with rare exceptions) the better!
If our current degreed "leadership" is any indication, therefore, degrees have declined - ignoring the rare talents we do produce - to signify virtually NOTHING about a candidate's prospects in the workplace. Indeed, those candidates who rest on their credentialed laurels are singularly unsuited to a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Naturally, the workplace does require employees who can think independently, critically and flexibly with respect to personnel, products and process. But does our current tenured leadership encourage such independence of thought???
To be very cruel, a majority of the lecturers I encountered in law and in arts I wouldn't suffer to employ. They were driven by internal politics and lacked creativity. Outside a rigid curriculum, they were lost for words. (An observation I believe supports the value of reading primary texts, not footnoted articles). As I said before, there ARE RARE EXCEPTIONS.
ECONOMICALLY, OUR ONLY PURPOSE SHOULD BE TO WIN
So let's get real! I submit that PERFORMANCE is the ONLY thing that truly matters in today's global economy. Where higher education in STEM subjects contributes to growth, companies must seek to hire qualified and advanced candidates.
Nonetheless, creative evolution in educational design and corporate practice - and within the middle market - should be our ultimate goal. The West does not need more letters. We need to start innovating and competing.. The narrow confines of a pure academic syllabus will not cut it in the contemporary world.

THE "WAY" ~ SOME MAXIMS
(Upon reading Henry Kissinger, On China)..
Jack of all trades, and Master of all.
Don't join society, change it.
If the rules can be defined, they can be refined.
ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACTHANI?
And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calls Elijah.
'Listen to the tales and romanticize,
How we'd follow the path of the hero.
Boast about the day when the rivers overrun.
How we rise to the height of our halo.
Listen to the tales as we all rationalize
Our way into the arms of the savior,
Feigning all the trials and the tribulations;
None of us have actually been there.
Not like you.
Ignorant siblings in the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy,
Spare me.
None of them can even hold a candle up to you.
Blinded by choice, these hypocrites won't see.
But, enough about the collective Judas.
Who could deny you were the one who
Illuminated your little piece of the divine?
And this little light of mine, a gift you passed on to me;
I'm gonna let it shine to guide you safely on your way,
Your way home ...
Oh, what are they going to do when the lights go down
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun
Other than tremble incessantly?
High is the way, but all eyes are upon the ground.
You were the light and the way they'll only read about.
I only pray, Heaven knows when to lift you out.
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough;
You're going home.
You're the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fists at the gates saying:
"I've come home now!
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It's time now!
My time now!
Give me my, give me my wings!"
You are the light and way that they will only read about.
Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance,
(With the) burden of proof tossed upon the believers.
You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence,
Judith Marie, unconditional one.
Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescents.
Difficult to see you in this light.
Please forgive this bold suggestion, but
Should you see your Maker's face tonight,
Look Him in the eye, look Him in the eye, and tell Him:
"I never lived a lie, never took a life, but surely saved one.
Hallelujah, it's time for you to bring me home."

A DAY ON THE BEACH: 'OJT' TO THE MAX
'
What do you mean, "I don't believe in God"?
I talk to him everyday.
What do you mean, "I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to
What do you mean, "I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do.
And, what do you mean, "I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?
If there's a new way,
I'll be the first in line.
But it better work this time.
What do you mean, "I hurt your feelings"?
I didn't know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, "I ain't kind"?
Just not your kind.
What do you mean, "I couldn't be the President
Of the United States of America"?
Tell me something, it's still "We the people," right?
If there's a new way
I'll be the first in line
But it better work this time
Can you put a price on peace?
Peace,
Peace sells,
Peace,
Peace sells,
Peace sells, but who's buying?
Peace sells, but who's buying?
Peace sells, but who's buying?
Peace sells, but who's buying?
No, peace sells'

Fast lane, like a jet plane
Like a freight train, I'm driving insane
Addicted to the fast lane
Rushing to my brain
No time to explain, this is my domain
Addicted to the fast lane
I look into mirror, red lights are drawing nearer
They think I've met my match
But I shift into high gear, soon they just disappear
You can't jail what you can't catch
I hear the engines screaming

GOING DOWN SWINGING
http://afr.com/p/lifestyle/review/offshoring_comes_home_pna3AXM4pMVYph7KDBY9bP
'I am just a poor boy
Though my story's seldom told
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocket full of mumbles such are promises
All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest
When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station running scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know
Lie la lie ...
Asking only workman's wages
I come looking for a job
But I get no offers,
Just a come-on from the whores on Seventh Avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there
Lie la lie ...
Then I'm laying out my winter clothes
And wishing I was gone
Going home
Where the New York City winters aren't bleeding me
Bleeding me, going home
In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that layed him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains
Lie la lie ...'
